A Romantic Couples Session Beneath Mt. Diablo

Set against the towering backdrop of Mt. Diablo, this couples session felt equal parts romantic and playful. We spent the evening wandering through an open field at the base of the mountain, surrounded by wide-open views, soft light, and a rustic water tower that gave the landscape just a little bit of unexpected character.

With Mt. Diablo rising behind them, it would have been easy to let the scenery steal the show—but some of my favorite photographs from this session are the ones filled with movement and connection. The laughing, running through the field, pulling each other close, and all of those little moments that happened somewhere between being directed and completely forgetting about the camera.

Locations like this are one of the reasons I love photographing couples throughout the Bay Area. A beautiful landscape gives us an incredible setting, but it’s what happens within it that makes the photographs feel personal.
